Welcome to week 19 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations blog hop for 2021. This week's feature colour is Gorgeous Grape which is from the Brights colour group. Gorgeous Grape is a very strong purple colour.
As I find Gorgeous Grape to be a very strong purple colour I have decided to try and tone it down a bit this week and created my own background by using the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks. That way I could determine the depth of the colour used. I've also chosen to stamp off the larger flowers so they aren't as bold.
To create the background I've used Gorgeous Grape and blending brushes. That way the colour can be lighter. As mentioned I've stamped off the main flowers in Gorgeous Grape and the smaller flowers are in So Saffron. The leaves have been stamped in Pear Pizzazz. Once all of the stamping was finished I have then die cut the flowers using the corresponding dies. This has then been mounted on a piece of Basic White cardstock that has been die cut using one of the Scalloped Contour dies. The sentiment is from Queen Anne's Lace and has been embossed in white on Gorgeous Grape cardstcok and then die cut using one of the Ornate Frames dies. For the flower centres I have added some of the beautiful Pastel Pearls.
Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Andrea Sargent.
I look forward to seeing what lovely creation they share with us

Your card looks so soft and pretty in the toned down purple. I love that you've left some pops of the bright colour, though.
ReplyDeleteThat masked and sponged background is so pretty, Theresa, and I just love your bow!
ReplyDeleteI, too, find this a rather dark (and confronting) purple, T! Love, love, love what you have done with it ... toned down, it looks just beautiful. The two "full strength" Gorgeous Grape elements (the bow and sentiment) are particularly pretty, given the subtle stamped and blended ink treatments. Beautiful job; love this card. x
ReplyDeleteYour softly masked background is gorgeous, Theresa and you've toned down the colour perfectly. However I do like how the sentiment really stands out!
ReplyDeleteTheresa, I love the soft subtle Gorgeous Grape background and flowers, and then the beautiful full strength colour in the sentiment piece and the ribbon.
ReplyDeleteLove love your masked background at less than full strength Theresa. The flowers with the pearl centres are just lovely and complemented with the ribbon and greeting in full strength.
