Stampin' Up! Highland Heather

This week, week 26 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour  Highland Heather, is a member of the Subtles colour group and as the name suggests is a purple colour.

It's been a few weeks since I last participated in the blog hop as I've been busy holidaying in Darwin and celebrating our son's University graduation.

One of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator is that we have access to upcoming new products before everyone else. This week I have chosen to feature some new upcoming stamps and coordinating dies which will be available to purchase from November 1st, called Framed Florets. The bundle consists of floral and greenery stamps with corresponding dies as well as frame dies and who doesn't love a frame die?

The floral images have been stamped in Black Memento and then coloured using Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends. I have then die cut them using the corresponding dies. Yay no fussy cutting required!

I have used Highland Heather cardstock on top of Thick Basic White cardstock for the base. To break up the base a bit I have stamped some of the leaf images in Highland Heather. The Basic White cardstock has been embossed using the Painted Texture Embossing folder and then die cut using the beautiful oval heart die from the Framed Floret dies. It has then been die cut again using one of the Deckled Rectangle dies. It's a bit hard to see the embossing in the photo above but this close up should show it in more detail.

The inner oval has been die cut using another of the frame dies from the Framed Floret dies.

The sentiment is also from the Framed Floret stamp set and has been stamped in Gorgeous Grape to be a bit bolder than Highland Heather.

Finally I have added some Pastel Pearls and coloured some Iridescent Pearls to the flower centres and the sentiment panel.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the talented Rachel Woollard. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

Stampin' Up! Cajun Craze

This week, week 11 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Cajun Craze, a very strong coloured member of the Regals colour group .

To me Cajun Craze is a strong bold colour and one that is perfect for male cards and as it is my Father In Laws birthday soon, I thought it perfect for his birthday along with the He's The Man Suite of products. Using the He's The Man Speciality paper as my guide I have teamed Cajun Craze with Early Espresso, Sahara Sand and a little bit of Crushed Curry.

My starting point was to cut strips of 2 of the papers in the He's The Man paper pack, adhere them to a piece of cardstock. I then embossed this piece using the Painted Texture embossing folder. I then created a frame using 2 of the Rectangle Stitched dies and adhered this to the embossed piece.  The photo below shows the detail of the embossing a bit clearer.

I have then wrapped some of the Natural Finish ribbon around the band.

The sentiment is from the stamp set, He's All That which is also part of the suite and has been stamped in Early Espresso and die cut with one of the dies from the coordinating set. I have mounted this on another die cut using Cajun Craze. One of the pieces of paper in the He's The Man Specialty paper is actaully die cuts, so I have used a couple of them for the stars that I have adhered to the ribbon.

As I thought the strip background needed to be broken up I added some arrows cut in Crushed Curry cardstock.

I have then die cut 4 of the "hashtag"type dies and adhered them to the corners of another piece of paper from the same pack. Finally I have mounted the strip and sentiment panel on top of this. I have then added a few Rustic Metal Dots.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Kate Morgan. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

If the "next" button link is not working or you would like to see a full list of participants then you can hop over to our host Cathy Proctor's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.

Don't forget to pop back next week when when we will be featuring the next Core colour in our journey, Calypso Coral.

Stampin' Up Tahitian Tide

Welcome to Week 5 of the new Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. This week we are featuring another of the new In Colours and this time it is Tahitian Tide which is a gorgeous aqua colour.

Things are so crazy busy in our house this week so much so that  I wasn't actually sure that I was going to be able to partake in this weeks Colour Creations Blog Hop but then I thought why not use it to my advantage!. You see our daughter gets married this Friday, our son has to submit his final thesis of his 5 year University course this week and my husbands mother who lives interstate is turning 90 next week and we are traveling there for the party! But then I thought why not create a birthday card for her using Tahitian Tide!.

As she is a bird lover and I have created a gift for her featuring bird life I thought why not  create a card to go with the gift. Strange but true I still hadn't inked up Garden Birdhouses so I decided that this would be a good choice as the new Sweet Songbirds, cute as it is isn't really appropriate for a 90th!

I started by stamping a couple of the bird houses and the poles in Black Memento ink and then coloured them using Tahitian Tide, Granny Apple Green and Soft Suede Stampin Blends. I then stamped some of the grasses using Granny Apple Green. Then to soften the starkness of the Basic White background I lightly brushed some Tahitian Tide ink using a Blending Brush. I then die cut this image with one of the new Deckled Rectangle dies and sponged around the outside. I then mounted this on a piece of Tahitian Tide DSP that has been embossed using the Painted Texture embossing folder. This was then mounted on thick White cardstock.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and has been stamped in Versamark and then embossed in White. It has then been die cut using one of the Beautiful Shapes dies.

For a bit of bling I have added some Iridescent Pearls some of which I have coloured using the Tahitian Tide Stampin Blend. I have also added a bow using the Tahitian Tide Bakers Twine.

Since this was for a significant birthday I thought I had better decorate the inside of the card as well.

As I have yet to purchase the new Alphabest Bundle I had to resort to using the long time retired Large Numbers Framelits, which I have die cut the numbers using some of the leftover Tahitian Tide DSP. I have then stamped one of the sentiments from the new Charming Sentiments stamp set and die cut it using the corresponding dies. How good is this bundle? No fussy cutting! Finally I have die cut a couple of what I would call star bursts, from the Sentiment Silhouette dies using some of the beautiful new In Colour Glimmer paper which is gorgeous and sparkly. Hopefully you can see that in my photo.

As well as cardmaking I also love to work with fabric, either quilt making or also machine embroidery. For my Mother In Laws 90th Birthday I have created a bird scene. As I know she won't see this blog, at 90 although she is on Facebook that's about where her technology ends, I thought I would share  a photo of it with you.

I have to say that although I can see a couple of errors that have occurred in the stretching for the framing I am still happy with the end result as I am sure she will also be.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Diane Furness. I am sure as always she will create a beautiful card.

If the "next" button link is not working or you would like to see a full list of participants then you can hop over to Cathy Proctor's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.

Don't forget to pop back next week when when we will be starting our journey through the rest of the Colour Collections in alphabetical order, starting with Balmy Blue.

Stampin' Up! Parakeet Party

Welcome to Week 2 of the new Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. This week we are featuring another of the new In Colours and this time it is Parakeet Party which is a vibrant lime green colour.

I have chosen to team up Parakeet Party with a couple of purples, namely Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather and have also decided to show some love to the Art Gallery bundle once again.

I started by stamping one of the flower images using Highland Heather and then stamped the contrast image using Gorgeous Grape. I then die cut this using the corresponding die. The stem and leaf image has been stamped using Parakeet Party and also die cut with the corresponding die. These die cuts have then been propped on a piece of Basic White cardstock that has been embossed using the Painted Texture folder. For a bit of contrast I have also added a Wink of Stella for a highlight on the petals which you can see a bit better in the photo below.

The Basic White panel has also been mounted on a piece of the new In Colour Designer Series Paper. Finally I have added a small bow that has been tied using the new In Colour Bakers Twine and I have added a couple of new In Colour Matt Decorative Dots.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Ros Davidson. I am sure as always she will create a beautiful card.

If the "next" button link is not working or you would like to see a full list of participants then you can hop over to  Cathy Proctor's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.

Heart of Christmas Week 17

Welcome to Week 17 of The Art With Heart Heart Of Christmas blog hop. This week our host is Sharon Davern.

It's funny how sometimes you picture in your mind how you are going lay a card out and then when you actually start to make it you realise that there is a more appealing way. Such is the case with this week's card. Initially I envisaged this card to rotated the other way to what has ended up being. That is, what I would say, standing on it's short side. As you can see it has ended up standing on it's long side instead.

I've used the colours in the DSP as the focus of the cardstock colours to use. Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Cherry Cobbler. I've die cut the DSP and Soft Succulent cardstock using the Rectangle Stitched dies. I have then mounted these on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock that I have embossed using Painted Texture folder.

For the bunch of foliage I have used a combination of Sparkle of The Season and Christmas Trimmings. I have then added a bow using Cherry Cobbler and Gold Ribbon. The sentiment has been stamped in Evening Evergreen using the Painted Christmas Suite.  Finally a few Holiday Rhinestones for some glimmer.

Next in tonight's blog hop is Sharon Davern. Click on the button below and it should take you to her blog where you can see her beautiful creation for tonight. If the button doesn't work then you can always go to Sharon Davern's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase : Poppy Parade

I'm baaaaccckkkk! Yes it has been a while since my last post but sometimes things in life have to take priority. Once Christmas passed we made the hard decision to move my 98 year old mother into Aged Care. Although it was a hard decision to make at the time, I know now that it was the absolute right decision. She is now settled and I hope to get back to joining this blog hop on a regular basis again.

This week we are featuring Poppy Parade. Poppy Parade is a member of the Brights colour group and one of the first Stampin' Up! colours I was introduced to many years ago. I've always loved this red colour and love teaming it with black and white as you will see.

My first card features the True Love DSP, 2 ways, one coloured with Stampin Blends and another as a base for the card.

I've mounted the coloured piece of DSP on to a piece of Whisper White cardstock that has been embossed using the Tasteful Textile folder. I've then added a peeper of Poppy Parade die cut using one of the Ornate Borders dies. The sentiment is from the Here's a Card stamp set. And to finish I've added a couple of Matt Black Dots.

For my second card I've finally inked up the absolutely beautiful Art Gallery stamp set and die cut the flower with the matching Floral Gallery Die.

Now that I look at it I really could've taken a better photo. The Fine Floral Art bundle also includes Painted Texture 3D embossing folder and i Have used it to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock to mount the beautiful flower. The DSP in the background is another piece from the True Love pack. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set and I've added a couple of Resin Hearts to the panel.

This photo shows a close up of the detail in the Painted Texture embossing folder.
