This week, week 40 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour Poppy Parade, which is a member of the Brights colour group.
Right from the outset this week I had decided to create a male card for our feature colour this week and to team Poppy Parade with Black, White and Basic Grey. When searching Pinterest for inspiration I came across a card made by Mary Fish and decided to use that as my starting point.
I have cut 1inch strips of both Ready to Ride Specialty Designer Series Paper, from the current mini catalogue, and also Perfectly Penciled DSP from the Annual Catalogue. The Perfectly Penciled paper is only Black and White so I have used Poppy Parade ink and Blending Brushes to colour it.
These strips have then been glued to a piece of Basic White cardstock that has then been embossed using the Metal Plate 3D embossing folder from the mini catalogue. This panel has then been mounted onto a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock and then Basic White.
Before mounting this onto Basic Grey cardstock I have wrapped some Black and White Bakers Twine around the band twice and tied a knot with it.
The sentiment is from the He's All That stamp set and has been stamped in black and then coloured using Poppy Parade and Smokey Slate Stampin Blends. This has been die cut using one of the dies from the coordinating set, All That dies, and then mounted onto Poppy Parade Cardstock that has been die cut using one of the Stylish Shapes dies. Finally I have added a couple of White Classic Matte Dots.
For the inside of the card I have kept it quite plain and simple and just used a couple of the Notepad pieces from the He's The Man Specialty paper.
Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Fiona Ryan. I look forward to seeing this week's beautiful creation.

ReplyDeleteAh, my favourite type of card - and you nailed it! I really like how you custom-coloured the Perfectly Penciled DSP, and paired it with those other papers. Great choice of embossing folder for the theme, too. Such a great card, to showcase Poppy Parade.
