This week, week 7 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Basic Gray.
This week I have chosen to team Basic Gray with Polished Pink and White to create what could be used as a sympathy card or just a "how are you going" card. The focus of the card is from the bundle Ranunculus Romance bundle which I must confess has not been used very much.
My starting point for this card was to stamp the Drybrush stamp using Basic Gray ink onto White cardstock. I then embossed this using the Timeworn Type embossing folder. I then stamped Ranunculus flower stem in Memento Black and then coloured it using Polished Pink and Granny Green Apple Stampin' Blends. I then die cut the image using the corresponding dies along with a couple of other sprays using Polished Pink cardstock.
Next I die cut one of the largest tags from the Tailor Made Tags dies using White cardstock and very lightly brushed some Basic Gray ink onto it using a Blending Brush to just lessen the starkness of the White cardstock. I then die cut the next smallest in the same type of tag using one of the pieces of Lovely Layers Vellum that has the random dots on it. The photo below shows the embossing of the background a bit better.
I then adhered the flower spray to the Tags. The tie for the Tag is some White Bakers Twine that I have coloured using the Polished Pink Stampin' Blends. For the sentiment I have stamped off the splotches stamp from Quite Meadow using Polished Pink and then stamped the sentiment also from the same stamp set using Basic Gray. This has then been die cut using one of the dies from the Meadow set of dies. Finally a couple of In Colour Opal Rounds for some bling.
Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Sharon Davern. I wonder whether she will have another of her fabulous fancy fold cards to share with us.
If the "next" button link is not working or you would like to see a full list of participants then you can hop over to our host, Cathy Proctor's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.
Don't

Theresa the background layer you have created with the Drybrush stamp using Basic Gray ink onto White cardstock really sets your flower off beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI love the Basic Gray Brushstroke Stamp on the background that was then embossed, and the pop of Polished Pink is stunning
ReplyDeleteA lovely card Theresa and I especially love the embossed Dry Brush stamped layer. The splotches on the sentiment tie in nicely with the distressed look of your card.

DeleteA really pretty card, Theresa. The flowers are lovely, and the Drybrush background is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Drybrush background, my friend! I wouldn't have thought to pair Polished Pink with Basic Gray (well, because I just don't use Polished Pink, LOL), but it's a great choice - very bold and striking. I like the way you've layered the tags, and the die-cut foliage. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI always love the way you put together your card layers Theresa - such well thought details every time! Love this one!

DeleteWould you believe when I was a teenager at home I painted my bedroom in Pink and Gray. They go together so well. The Ranunculus look so good on the tag.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely pop of pink to brighten up your card, Theresa. The background looks great using that stamp, with the embossing over the top. Lovely card!
