This week, week 8 in the Colour
Creations blog hop we continue our journey featuring all of the Core
Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Bermuda Bay, a member of the Brights colour group .
Bermuda Bay is a very strong colour and one that I actually don't use very much and one that I found somewhat challenging. Scrolling through the catalogue I found the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set and realised that although I have had this stamp set and the coordinating embossing folder and dies since their first appearance, in I think a mini, I still haven't used any of it. I decided to give it a go for Bermuda Bay and have teamed it with one of the new In Colours Parakeet Party.
The starting point for my card was to emboss a piece of white cardstock using the Seashells embossing folder. Then using sponge daubers and Bermuda Bay and Parakeet Party ink pads I softly applied ink to the embossed areas to add some depth to the background. I then stamped and die cut some of the shells and seaweed in Bermuda Bay and Parakeet Party. The photo below shows the sponging in a bit closer detail.
For the sentiment I cut a piece of white cardstock and using Blending Brushes coloured the top half of the piece using Bermuda Bay and the bottom half using Parakeet Party. I then die cut the outline of the word "Sending" from the Sending Dies . After applying some adhesive sheet to another piece of white cardstock, I then die cut the actual word "Sending" and adhered this to the coloured outline. The sentiment has been stamped in Bermuda Bay and then die cut using the larger of the 2 sentiment dies from the Sending Smiles bundle. I have used some Linen Thread around the body of the card, including for the knot. Finally a few Iridescent Pearls for some bling.
Next in tonight's blog hop is our lovely host Catherine Proctor. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

Love the way you have created the split colour background for your sentiment, Theresa. These colours work so well together and look fantastic on your card!
ReplyDeleteYour sponged sea shells look amazing, and I really love the split background on the sentiment. So effective!
ReplyDeleteI love this colour combination, and a beachy theme is a great choice. I saw that split colour technique, for the sentiment, this week and was going to try it - then forgot. It looks great, my dear! I really like how you sponged colour onto the embossed background. Nicely done. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your colouring of the background embossing folder, really effective
ReplyDeleteLovely card Theresa and the embossed background has come up a treat with the touches of ink. The split colours behind the sentiment looks awesome.

ReplyDeleteLovely card Theresa, The colours are so gentle.
ReplyDeleteThe light sponging on the embossed background is lovely and soft and the dual colour behind the sentiment looks great!
ReplyDeleteBermuda Bay and Parakeet Party pair together beautifully, Theresa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card Theresa, I love your background with the shells and the colouring of that is so lovely. The sentiment on the front is a great play on words even sending smiles across the miles as if it were miles of ocean with the background. Perfect! The split background of the sentiment looks great too!
