This week, week 29 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour Merry Merlot, is a member of the Neutrals colour group, which I don't quite understand why and is as the colour suggests, like a glass of Merlot, a deep burgundy.
As I have had to miss the last few weeks of the Heart Of Christmas blog hop I have decided to supplement my Christmas card stash with this week's Colour Creations blog hop card featuring Merry Merlot. I have teamed Merry Merlot with Basic White and a hint of Evening Evergreen to create a Christmas card using the Merriest Moments bundle, which until the 18th November you can get the stamp set for 15% off and the corresponding Embossing folder for 20% off!
The Merry Merlot background cardstock has been embossed using one of the Wintry 3D embossing folders. I have used Basic White cardstock along with the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder to create the feature panel. This involves first of embossing the design and then die cutting it with the matching die.
The sentiment panel has been cut using one of the dies from the same die set and has been popped up on Merry Merlot cardstock.
The Poinsettia in the top left hand corner has been stamped in Merry Merlot and die cut with the corresponding dies and the foliage has been done in the same way using Evening Evergreen.
I thought that the plain white cardstock was a bit too bland and so have added some Wink Of Stella to accentuate the foliage veins. You can see it better in the close up below as well as the embossing of the Merry Merlot background.
Finally I have added some Gold Festive Pearls to the centre of the Poinsettia and some Evening Evergreen Opal Rounds to the sentiment panel.
Next in tonight's blog hop is our lovely host Cathy Proctor. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

I wouldn't have thought to use Merry Merlot for Christmas, but it makes for a beautiful, elegant, combination with Evening Evergreen. Love your use of this gorgeous bundle, T ... and the Opal Rounds look fantastic. Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteTheresa, I totally agree - why on earth is this colour in the Neutrals family! It is clearly a regal! Anyway, rant over and back to your lovely card. Merry Merlot is perfect for your poinsettia and this is a lovely classic Christmas card design.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas card is so rich and elegant! The addition of Wink Of Stella was a great idea - it's just not Christmas without a little sparkle!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely Christmas card Theresa. The richness of Merry Merlot contrasting with white and a touch of Evening Evergreen is delightful. Love the addition of Wink of Stella. Xxx
ReplyDeleteMerry Merlot is a great colour for poinsettias and with the Evening Evergreen leaves, it works so well together. I love all your embossing and the Wink of Stella is perfect on the white veins.
