Stampin' Up! Blackberry Bliss

This week, week 9 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Blackberry Bliss, a member of the Regals colour group .

For my card this week I decided to break open a new stamp set and die bundle from the upcoming new July to December mini, that will be available to purchase from this Friday but as a demonstrator we have the privilege to purchase in a preorder. The stamp set is Splendid Thoughts and is paired with matching dies. I have teamed Blackberry Bliss with Old Olive and Fresh Freesia.

I started my card by stamping the leaf outline in Old Olive and the flower stem in Blackberry Bliss. The stamp set does come with a "filling stamp" but it's designed to be offset somewhat as and I wanted to die cut these images I chose to break out my "little used" watercolour pencils and Blender Pens instead. As Stampin' Up! do not have a Blackberry Bliss pencil I opted for Rich Razzleberry instead. I think it's close enough. I also die cut a couple of open leaves from the Splendid Stems dies using some Matte Rose Gold Specialty Paper. I then mounted this bunch on a circle of White cardstock that has been matted with a scalloped edge of Blackberry Bliss. Both from the Layering Circles dies.

For the base of the card I have used a piece of the Design a Daydream paper which features Blackberry Bliss and what I think is Fresh Freesia.  I have used the scallop edge die from the Scalloped Contour dies for the edge of the paper and embossed the Fresh Freesia cardstock using the Pretty Flowers embossing folder. You can see the detail a bit closer in the photo below.

I have then added a bow of Fresh Freesia to the spray.

The sentiment is from Happiness Abounds and has been stamped in Blackberry Bliss and die cut using one of the dies from Harvest Dies. Finally I have added a few In Colour Opal Rounds to break up some of the space and to the sentiment panel.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Rosa Leyden. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

Stampin' Up! Bermuda Bay

This week, week 8 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Bermuda Bay, a member of the Brights colour group .

Bermuda Bay is a very strong colour and one that I actually don't use very much and one that I found somewhat challenging. Scrolling through the catalogue I found the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set and realised that although I have had this stamp set and the coordinating embossing folder and dies since their first appearance, in I think a mini, I still haven't used any of it. I decided to give it a go for Bermuda Bay and have teamed it with one of the new In Colours Parakeet Party.

The starting point for my card was to emboss a piece of white cardstock using the Seashells embossing folder. Then using sponge daubers and Bermuda Bay and Parakeet Party ink pads I softly applied ink to the embossed areas to add some depth to the background. I then stamped and die cut some of the shells and seaweed in Bermuda Bay and Parakeet Party. The photo below shows the sponging in a bit closer detail.

For the sentiment I cut a piece of white cardstock and using Blending Brushes coloured the top half of the piece using Bermuda Bay and the bottom half using Parakeet Party. I then die cut the outline of the word "Sending" from the Sending Dies . After applying some adhesive sheet to another piece of white cardstock, I then die cut the actual word "Sending" and adhered this to the coloured outline. The sentiment has been stamped in Bermuda Bay and then die cut using the larger of the 2 sentiment dies from the Sending Smiles bundle. I have used some Linen Thread around the body of the card, including for the knot. Finally a few Iridescent Pearls for some bling.

Next in tonight's blog hop is our lovely host Catherine Proctor. I look forward to seeing her lovely creation.

Stampin' Up! Basic Gray

This week, week 7 in the Colour Creations blog hop we continue our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, in alphabetical order. This week's feature colour is Basic Gray.

This week I have chosen to team Basic Gray with Polished Pink and White to create what could be used as a sympathy card or just a "how are you going" card. The focus of the card is from the bundle Ranunculus Romance bundle which I must confess has not been used very much.

My starting point for this card was to stamp the Drybrush stamp using Basic Gray ink onto White cardstock. I then embossed this using the Timeworn Type embossing folder. I then stamped Ranunculus flower stem in Memento Black and then coloured it using Polished Pink and Granny Green Apple Stampin' Blends. I then die cut the image using the corresponding dies along with a couple of other sprays using Polished Pink cardstock.

Next I die cut one of the largest tags from the Tailor Made Tags dies using White cardstock and very lightly brushed some Basic Gray ink onto it using a Blending Brush to just lessen the starkness of the White cardstock. I then die cut the next smallest in the same type of tag using one of the pieces of Lovely Layers Vellum that has the random dots on it. The photo below shows the embossing of the background a bit better.

I then adhered the flower spray to the Tags. The tie for the Tag is some White Bakers Twine that I have coloured using the Polished Pink Stampin' Blends. For the sentiment I have stamped off the splotches stamp from Quite Meadow using Polished Pink and then stamped the sentiment also from the same stamp set using Basic Gray. This has then been die cut using one of the dies from the Meadow set of dies. Finally a couple of In Colour Opal Rounds for some bling.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Sharon Davern. I wonder whether she will have another of her fabulous fancy fold cards to share with us.

Stampin' Up! Balmy Blue

This week, week 6 in the Colour Creations blog hop we start our journey  featuring all of the Core Stampin' Up! colours, and this is to be done in alphabetical order. So that means that this week's feature colour is Balmy Blue.

This week I have taken my colour inspiration from some of the beautiful Awash In Beauty DSP and teamed Balmy Blue with Granny Apple Green and Polished Pink. I have also decided to ink up the beautiful True Beauty stamp set which also has corresponding dies. In fact as soon as this Suite was available I ordered the all of it as I really love it.

My starting point for the card was to die cut some Basic White cardstock using the lattice die. I then retained all of the outer die cuts and put them back in place. Oh I should add that I used the Adhesive sheets to make it easier to adhere the lattice to the DSP that I have used behind it. This DSP is on what I would call the reverse side. It wasn't until I had finished this card that I realised I had actually used the paper upside down. Oops! You can definitely see it in the photo further down.

I then added a piece of Vellum paper that I had stamped the "splatter" stamp from the  Colour and Contour stamp set and embossed the splotches with silver embossing powder. It was a bit hard to capture this in a photo. I then added an oval frame from the Fabulous Frames dies which was die cut using Basic White cardstock. You can also see those upside down flowers on the DSP.

I have then stamped the flowers in Balmy Blue, the leaves in Granny Green Apple and the Sprig in Polished Pink and then die cut them using their corresponding dies. I was able to easily adhere the vellum to the lattice background by applying the glue in places where the die cuts covered the glue.

The sentiment has been stamped in Polished Pink and is also from the True Beauty stamp set. It has been die cut using a die from the Sending dies.  Finally I have added some Silver Simply Elegant Trim and a couple of Iridescent Pearls to the flower centres.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Rosa Leyden. I am sure as always she will create a beautiful card.

Stampin' Up Tahitian Tide

Welcome to Week 5 of the new Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. This week we are featuring another of the new In Colours and this time it is Tahitian Tide which is a gorgeous aqua colour.

Things are so crazy busy in our house this week so much so that  I wasn't actually sure that I was going to be able to partake in this weeks Colour Creations Blog Hop but then I thought why not use it to my advantage!. You see our daughter gets married this Friday, our son has to submit his final thesis of his 5 year University course this week and my husbands mother who lives interstate is turning 90 next week and we are traveling there for the party! But then I thought why not create a birthday card for her using Tahitian Tide!.

As she is a bird lover and I have created a gift for her featuring bird life I thought why not  create a card to go with the gift. Strange but true I still hadn't inked up Garden Birdhouses so I decided that this would be a good choice as the new Sweet Songbirds, cute as it is isn't really appropriate for a 90th!

I started by stamping a couple of the bird houses and the poles in Black Memento ink and then coloured them using Tahitian Tide, Granny Apple Green and Soft Suede Stampin Blends. I then stamped some of the grasses using Granny Apple Green. Then to soften the starkness of the Basic White background I lightly brushed some Tahitian Tide ink using a Blending Brush. I then die cut this image with one of the new Deckled Rectangle dies and sponged around the outside. I then mounted this on a piece of Tahitian Tide DSP that has been embossed using the Painted Texture embossing folder. This was then mounted on thick White cardstock.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and has been stamped in Versamark and then embossed in White. It has then been die cut using one of the Beautiful Shapes dies.

For a bit of bling I have added some Iridescent Pearls some of which I have coloured using the Tahitian Tide Stampin Blend. I have also added a bow using the Tahitian Tide Bakers Twine.

Since this was for a significant birthday I thought I had better decorate the inside of the card as well.

As I have yet to purchase the new Alphabest Bundle I had to resort to using the long time retired Large Numbers Framelits, which I have die cut the numbers using some of the leftover Tahitian Tide DSP. I have then stamped one of the sentiments from the new Charming Sentiments stamp set and die cut it using the corresponding dies. How good is this bundle? No fussy cutting! Finally I have die cut a couple of what I would call star bursts, from the Sentiment Silhouette dies using some of the beautiful new In Colour Glimmer paper which is gorgeous and sparkly. Hopefully you can see that in my photo.

As well as cardmaking I also love to work with fabric, either quilt making or also machine embroidery. For my Mother In Laws 90th Birthday I have created a bird scene. As I know she won't see this blog, at 90 although she is on Facebook that's about where her technology ends, I thought I would share  a photo of it with you.

I have to say that although I can see a couple of errors that have occurred in the stretching for the framing I am still happy with the end result as I am sure she will also be.

Next in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Diane Furness. I am sure as always she will create a beautiful card.

If the "next" button link is not working or you would like to see a full list of participants then you can hop over to Cathy Proctor's blog where you can see a full list of tonight's participants.

Don't forget to pop back next week when when we will be starting our journey through the rest of the Colour Collections in alphabetical order, starting with Balmy Blue.
