Stampin' Up! Smoky Slate

Welcome to week 43 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations blog hop for 2022. This week's feature colour is Smoky Slate, which is a member of the Neutrals colour group.

This week I have 2 cards to share with you that feature Smoky Slate which as the name suggests is a grey colour similar to the colour of slate.

For my first card I have decided to feature the Rainbow of Happiness bundle.

To start with I have randomly stamped some of the raindrop images on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock. I have then used one of the Basic Border dies that looks like cloud edges to create the appearance of fluffy white clouds on a couple of pieces of Basic White cardstock. I have then embossed these pieces of cardstock using the Splatters embossing folder. I have then die cut a couple of rainbow pieces using some lovely bright colours, Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Granny Green Apple and Bermuda Bay and placed these to look like they are coming up out of one of the clouds. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set and has been embossed in Silver and then die cut using one of the Ornate Frames dies.. Finally I have added a few Silver Epoxy essentials as raindrops.

For my second card I have CASED the card on page 41 of the current mini catalogue.

For the base of the card I have used a piece of the Symbols of Fortune Designer Series Paper which features, Smoky Slate, Gold and White. I have then adhered a piece of Vellum to the adhesive sheets and then die cut it using one of the Eden dies. By adhering the vellum to the adhesive sheets it makes it much easier to adhere the die cut to the background. I have then die cut some Smoky Slate, Gold foil and Basic White cardstock using one of the other Eden's frames. I have then snipped these to form sprigs. Finally I have stamped the sentiment onto Smoky Slate cardstock using Gold embossing powder and then die cut it using one of the Tailor Made Tags dies. Finally a bow using the Gold Simply Elegant trim and a few Gilded Gems.

Next in tonight's blog hop is  our lovely host Cathy Proctor. I look forward to seeing what beautiful creation she has to share with us tonight.

  2. Theresa, these are both gorgeous cards, but I particularly love the way the rainbow pops against the Smoky Slate and the incredible texture you have achieved on your card.

  4. Gosh, they're both beautiful, T! I love the clouds embossed with the Splatter embossing folder - such a cute touch. Smoky Slate is a great colour to use in the background of all those brights. The second card is so lovely ... clearly I need to have a play with this beautiful paper!

  6. Two lovely cards Theresa, using Smoky Slate in 2 different ways. I love a rainbow and those embossed clouds look great. I love the softness of card 2 with your use of vellum and the gold foil highlight’s.
